Who makes the beds?+
KosieCare Pet Beds is run by Joan Browne, based near Ferns in Co. Wexford. Every bed is hand-made locally in her workshop.
What is the bed made of?+
A raised frame with a hypo-allergenic fabric surface, rust-coloured, hard-wearing and virtually indestructible. There is no removable cover and no foam padding.
Will it survive a heavy chewer?+
Our own beds have been used by 14 dogs over 4 years and are still virtually as new. They are designed to be hard-wearing and virtually indestructible — but no dog bed is bite-proof. If your dog is exceptionally destructive, please contact us first.
How do I clean it?+
Soapy water and a mop. That's it. With other beds you usually have to take them apart to wash them; with ours you just wipe the surface down and it dries almost instantly.
Is it good for older dogs and arthritis?+
Yes — this is exactly what the bed was designed for. Being raised off the floor keeps the dog off cold ground, and the hypo-allergenic surface is gentle on sensitive skin. The original bed was made for Rocky, who had severe eczema and joint problems.
What sizes do you make and what do they cost?+
Seven sizes: Extra Small (€55), Small (€70), Medium (€78), Large (€80), Extra Large (€90), Giant (€155) and Wolfhound (€175). All sizes are approximate and may vary by up to 2 cm.
Which size should I get?+
Not sure which size suits your dog? Contact Joan with the breed, age and any health notes and she'll recommend the right size.
